		What songs do we play?

With Indigo you have the option of 2 bands in one. Firstly a live jazz duo with vocals and guitar, playing jazz and soul classics, ideal for creating a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere for any occasion. Secondly, a disco playing music from the 50’s to the 00’s. Our P.A. and lighting system are ample for small and medium size venues to ensure your event finishes in style. Here are some examples of how we could play at your event: 1) Party. 8pm The guests arrive to the sounds of Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Holiday. They chat and mingle over the cool jazz until 10-30 when the lights go down and the music comes up, then the young and the young-at-heart boogie the night away to dancefloor classics. 2) Wedding. 4-00 As the guests arrive from the church and mingle while the photos are taken, we set the scene with some jazz favourites. 5.30 You enjoy the meal with some live music as background and relax with your coffees to the songs of the swing era. 7.30 Some of your older guests dance to tunes from the careers of Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone and Julie London. Then at 8.30 we don our sequined jackets and platform heels and see the evening out with Kylie, Stevie Wonder, Micheal Jackson and Abba. We recognise that the one thing our clients want most is peace of mind. We have 10 years experience of all kinds of functions and have the expertise to ensure that you can relax and enjoy your event. We are happy to give free impartial advice on what would be most suitable for your function. We also have £10m public liability insurance. Started in 1999, Indigo has grown into one of the Souths most popular duos. Our jazz repertoire has been specially chosen for a variety of moods and tastes. Our high quality simulated rhythm section provides the sound of a full band. You can hear us here. Our clients past and present include The Pizza Express chain, Brighton and Hove council, Jeremy’s restaurant in Borde hill, The Brighton Marina Casino, The Joogleberry playhouse, Taylors and the Lemon Tree Restaurant, The Neptune Inn and Koba. Although our usual setup is a duo of guitar and vocals, we can add more musicians if required. We can easily accomodate a saxophonist, pianist or full rhythm section if you would prefer a jazz trio, quartet or quintet. We pride ourselves on giving value for money. Indigo personnel

Indigo is Simon Brewin on guitar and Sara Oschlag OR Sally Hurst on vocals.

Simon Brewin studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, U.S.A. He has been playing guitar for 23 years, composing and performing around the south of England in a variety of bands. He has worked with Sue Richardson, Andy Williams, Matty Eeles, Enrick Adam and many others. Check out his own site www.studiomusician.co.uk

"Sara Oschlag’s beautiful voice stands out from the plethora of current jazz-inflected vocalists. Anyone who has heard her interpretation of Billie Holiday’s ‘Don’t Explain’ would surely agree that Sara does full justice to the original – the emotion, sadness and haunting phrasing are all there in a voice infused with maturity far beyond her young years. Originally from Denmark, Sara settled in Brighton two years ago and already she has shared the stage with Lianne Caroll, the London-based jazz trio, PD3, Brighton’s own jazz big-band Rockin’ In Rhythm, Lawrence Jones’ BJAS, Ian Price, Spike Wells, Andy Williams and many others."

"Sally has a wonderfully smooth, smokey voice reminicent of Peggy Lee, with a sweetness and control that is deceptive in its power and depth. A constant crowd pleaser, her perfomances are subtle and passionate." Sally Hurst has performed in some of London’s most prestigious music venues, such as The Royal Festival Hall, St. Martin’s In The Field, and The Barbican. Moving to Sussex in 2000, she has been making her mark in a variety of ways, performing at the Komedia, the Joogleberry and other top Brighton venues. She has featured as guest vocalist with classic Jazz, Rock and Blues bands, such as Freddie’s Freeloaders and The Jazz Collective. Her demo can be heard here.
